Tideway Scullers School - Background

Many international rowers have worn our famous red and yellow kit, but the Tideway Scullers community is about much more than that. Our junior section introduces rowing to the local community and supports juniors to the highest standards regularly competing at Junior International events.

In 2021 the junior squads’ successes were crowned with wins at Nat Schools, HWR and the Fawley Challenge Cup at HRR. TSS first international vest for 2022 was gained by a JW.

Our senior section has succeeded in providing representation at every Olympics since the club was founded in 1956.  In 2021, the senior squad won three events at HWR and reached four semi-finals at HRR. Six seniors represented GB at World Cups and this year sees these athletes continuing their international careers.

In 2022 success is continuing with two pennants at WeHORR, placing 3rd and 9th, seven senior crews medaling at Ghent and serious intentions for HWR and HRR.

The masters’ athletes are both recreational and regularly compete at top events and have medalled at European and World Masters as well as British Masters and HMR.

Our coaches currently include the BR Club Performance Coach of the Year and the BR Junior Sculling Lead. Our quality fleet is well maintained and supported by fundraising, a 100 club and a team who successfully apply for grants every year.
