We aim to predominantly use single sculls during the course, for the less experienced or if the weather conditions dictate, we will use crew boats - either doubles or quads. By the end of the week, most, if not all, course attendees will be sculling in single sculls. As with all things rowing related, the weather and river conditions may dictate our choice of boats, with your safety being paramount.
Participants for each course will be split into smaller groups depending on their ability.
Example Itinerary
Day 1 - Introduction & Allocation
The week begins with a safety briefing, followed by an introduction to your coach and the boat allocated to you for the week.
This is followed by a water session of approximately 1.5 hours (no break). After a de-brief with your coach, you will be finished for the day.
The first day is primarily to ensure that you are comfortable in your allocated boat and group. If it becomes clear that you are significantly faster or slower than others in your group, you may be moved into a more appropriate group from the following day.
Days 2 & 3 - Technical Development
Each day begins with a short briefing from your coach, including an opportunity to ask questions and review any points from the previous session.
You will then complete a water session of approximately 1.5 hours (no break), followed by a de-brief with your coach.
Depending on the weather and available time, your coach may use video analysis to review your rowing and discuss specific technical points or concerns.
Day 4 - Time Trial
The day begins with a short briefing and an opportunity for questions.
Subject to suitable weather conditions, we aim to run a time-trial race format.
Day 5 - Side by Side Racing
The final day begins with a short briefing and an opportunity for questions.
Subject to suitable weather conditions, we aim to run a side-by-side race format.
