Always a good experience on the TSS summer courses. First time being coached by Nick and got some very useful tips and adjustments to be working on. Definitely could feel the improvement. Thank you so much !

I wanted to be a better single sculler - Tim looked at how I rowed, gave me very specific instructions on which areas of my rowing I needed to change, I did what he said and it completely changed my rowing for the better! In addition, he helped me build my confidence hugely. I got more than I hoped for from the course - thank you so much.

A huge thank you to all involved in running such a great sculling course. The coaching was extremely helpful and delivered with the perfect ratio of instruction and humour to make the course informative and fun. The team helping with boating, with their patience and advice, were a credit to TSS.

I really enjoyed all of it. The coaches were brilliant at explaining things clearly. I found all the feedback and filming really helpful and I’ll hopefully now crack some things I’ve been doing wrong for years! The course really helped me over the single scull phobia because there were so many coaches really looking out for everyone. Thank you to Nick for looking after our group. It was a great week!

  • David, 2026 AH2 Participant

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent experience for me and brilliantly run by the team. It seemed like we made a lot of progress without overloading the groups with work or distance, but still did a good amount sculling over the week . Jack and Richard were really encouraging and having their expertise and wisdom in the coaching launch was a privilege.

The coaching was fantastic, I felt that I improved over the week and Jason’s suggestions and feedback were really helpful. I thought the course was a perfect combination of learning and fun. The assistant coaches were also outstanding - so positive, kind and friendly. I loved it and will definitely come back again next year!

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another fabulous week of confidence building sculling- lots to take away from this week- great coaches, helpful assistants, lovely fellow athletes- very friendly and I shall be back next year for more- many thanks to everyone involved

  • Michael, 2026 AH1 Participant

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Jack gave simple, clear technical coaching instructions about the sculling action, but his non-technical descriptions helped me understand how good sculling should feel. I am taking with me a number of new exercises that are changing my stroke, as well as the confidence of what’s possible and what it should feel like.

I also learned a lot sculling with the diverse sculling group. Everyone did something better or different, which is another rich opportunity to learn.

Finally, the off-water sessions helpfully condensed years of experiences into 30-60 minute gems.

I’ll be back again to work on the rest of my stroke.

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I came into the TSS sculling course feeling a bit stuck in a rowing rut, but this experience completely reignited my love for the sport. The course itself was fantastic, and the people and crew made it even more enjoyable and motivating.

A special mention has to go to Jason, whose coaching was outstanding. He has an incredible ability to read each rower and give precise, thoughtful feedback tailored to what they need. Within just a week, he helped me identify and fix issues that had been bothering me for a long time but that I couldn’t quite pinpoint myself. His step-by-step approach made everything feel manageable and never overwhelming.

The teaching sessions were also excellent—I’ve learned so much, not just about sculling but about rowing more broadly. The expertise and support from all the coaches at TSS made this a truly valuable and rewarding experience.
